Communities Energized for Health (CEH)

Communities Energized for Health (CEH) addresses exposure to secondhand smoke in rural communities of Northern California. Through meaningful partnerships and the support of the communities most impacted by secondhand smoke, CEH aims to increase smokefree multiunit housing, mobile home park complexes, and healthcare centers. This project works directly with decision makers to expand smokefree indoor policies and Kick It California’s free tobacco cessation referral system for community members to quit commercial tobacco use on their own terms. Learn more about CEH’s work here.

Rural Outreach and Advocacy for Resilience (ROAR)

The Rural Outreach and Advocacy for Resilience (ROAR) addresses tobacco retail availability in rural areas of Northern California. The primary objective of this project is to partner with at least 10 organizations representing or serving Rural and/or Latino populations to contribute to the project's tobacco prevention work. The secondary objective is to work toward comprehensive tobacco retail licensing in jurisdictions within Butte and Colusa Counties—such as eliminating the sale of menthol and other flavored products, decreasing the number of tobacco retail outlets, restricting discount programs for tobacco products, and more.

MCAH grant

ETR provides specialized training and technical assistance for the California Department of Public Health’s Adolescent Health Section, supporting two key initiatives: the Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP) and Adolescent Sexual Health Education (ASH Ed.) Programs. These efforts aim to reduce adolescent birth rates, repeat births, and sexually transmitted infections among youth. Through evidence-informed strategies, the programs promote healthy relationships, support access to clinical care, and strengthen statewide models for adolescent sexual and reproductive health.

Black Infant Health

The Black Infant Health (BIH) Program aims to decrease Black infant mortality and enhance maternal health by teaching participants effective stress-reducing techniques and life skills. ETR was brought on as a consulting partner to update and improve the BIH curriculum based on scientific program design and development best practices. The program uses a group-based approach with life planning and case management to build social support, empower participants, and foster positive choices. Using the refreshed curriculum, ETR conducted regional trainings to equip Family Health Advocates (FHAs) with the necessary skills to effectively implement the BIH Program.
