Our Approach
ETR has developed several frameworks and strategies that guide our work, as well as support the education, training, and research efforts of others in the field.
Health Equity Framework
ETR’s work is deeply rooted in our Health Equity Framework (HEF). This framework posits that the complex interactions between people and their environment influence health and education outcomes, allowing us to support partners in implementing programs that are science-driven and community-attuned.

Youth Engagement Strategies
Youth engagement is central to our work. We support and build the capacity of partner organizations to have meaningful youth engagement through our science-based and youth-driven Principles of Youth Engagement. Learn more about our youth-centered strategies and featured work.

YEN
The Youth Engagement Network (YEN) advances youth engagement in sexual and reproductive health by promoting five youth-informed principles developed through a national group concept mapping process with diverse young people aged 16-21. These principles emphasize shared power and authentic youth-adult partnerships to create meaningful opportunities for youth leadership and voice. Learn more here about how YEN supports effective youth engagement in health programs.

TIYCHD
Trauma Informed Youth Centered Health Design (TIYCHD) is a design framework developed by ETR to center youth voice and promote healing in the creation of health programs. Created for use in public health work with youth, especially those impacted by trauma, TIYCHD supports meaningful youth partnership throughout every step of the design process.
