What inspires you in your work? I often ask this about our tribe—this group of people making the front-line effort in the world of health education and promotion.

I think most of us love working for a mission. And I also think that for most people, the work sometimes gets tedious or challenging.

That’s why I totally LOVE this video by ETR’s Digital Solutions Manager, Kieren Jameson.

I want to change your mind. Correct a misperception. Support you in changing a behavior. I want to talk to you about something that is so important, your life depends on it.

Who do I need to be? Whom are you going to listen to? Who is going to be able to save your life?

Some interesting research on a behavioral intervention strategy called Popular Opinion Leader says that in communities at high risk for HIV, the people who can change hearts and minds are out there. And prevention programs can enlist their help in changing risk behaviors in their communities.

If you’re ready for some powerful and illuminating video viewing, take a look at the TED Bullying Playlist. Four speakers and one heart-lifting musical performance will give you new insights and more than a few moments of reflection.

There are lots of opportunities for student projects using these videos. Review videos before sharing with your students to be sure the content is appropriate—there are some adult themes and a couple of instances of profanity.

Mediation analysis allows evaluators to determine which specific factors in an evidence-based intervention had the greatest impact on participants. An article in the Journal of Pediatric Health Care offers a review of current literature on cyberbullying, including the particular features of this type of bullying, and how it affects victims. It describes the epidemiology (1 in 4 adolescents in the southern U.S. reported being a victim), identifies characteristics that increase risk for being a target, and explains what technologies are used most often. The article also offers an impressive list of resources for gathering more information and helping schools, communities, families and individuals.

We like the ways videos and media help us see the world differently and think in new ways. Take a look at our favorite videos of the month. Los Angeles County Metro buses give health a chance. Bolthouse Farms offers an interactive musical website that makes healthy food simply glorious. And a guy known as "Menstrual Man" empowers women in rural India to change their lives. Watch and have fun.

Bedsider offers some wonderful new videos that can help people get over their awkwardness and bring up the subject of contraception. Very funny. A video from amfAR provides a compelling rationale for needle exchange. And a powerful infographic gives us disturbing numbers about children's consumption of sugary treats. Watch!

You get fun spinner wheels that let you put together just about every human sexual encounter imaginable. For every combination (“When my TOE touches a MOUTH”) you get info about STI risks, safer sex tips and suggestions for healthy communication (including some videos).
