ETR Associates Thanks Google for New Support for Teaching Technology Skills to Latino Youth

On September 30, 2010, Google Inc.'s Roots in Science and Engineering (RISE) initiative awarded an additional $2,000 grant to ETR's Center for Youth Success (C4YS). The award augments an existing $5,000 Google RISE grant that supports C4YS's Watsonville Technología-Educación-Comunidad (Watsonville TEC) project. The award letter from Laszlo Bock, Google's Vice President of People Operations, recognized the outstanding work of the Watsonville TEC program in its efforts to bring more Latino youth into higher education and careers in technology: "It's been a privilege to partner with the Center for Youth Success at ETR Associates in 2010 as a RISE Award Recipient. We at Google believe strongly in your mission and the impact you are having. As we enter the last few months of 2010, we wanted to thank you for the amazing work you've done to make a real difference in the lives of so many students." The Watsonville TEC project will use the augmentation grant to complete the development of a curriculum that teaches students how to create 3D animated science illustrations using Google's free Sketch-Up software application.
