ETR Associates Provides Health Education Professional Development for Suffolk County Department of Health, Long Island, NY

On April 8, 2011, Dr. Susan Telljohann, co-author of ETR Associates' HealthSmart curriculum, a comprehensive K-12 health program, delivered ETR's Professional Development training seminar, "Characteristics of Effective Health Education Curricula," to almost 100 New York educators. The training seminar was the result of a joint effort by the Suffolk County Department of Health and Eastern Suffolk BOCES in Long Island, New York. The seminar identified and reinforced the principles of health education theory, helped participants better understand the health programs they currently use, and provided tools to identify programs that meet community and state education goals. ETR Associates remains committed to delivering professional development on health education curricula to health educators in county public health departments, hospitals and schools to ensure that children benefit fully from health lessons delivered in schools and after-school programs.
