ETR Associates Develops Adaptations for Office of Adolescent Health
ETR Associates' Center for Sexual and Reproductive Health Promotion and Research Department will be developing adaptation guidance on five evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention programs for the Office of Adolescent Health (OAH) as a subcontract to JBS International, Inc. ETR will develop a logic model; identify core components related to content, pedagogy and implementation; and provide general adaptation guidance for each of the five programs. This project builds on ETR's experience and expertise in developing both specific and general adaptation guidelines for evidence-based sexual health programs through a project currently funded by the CDC's Division of Reproductive Health.
During the first phase of the project, ETR will focus on three programs:
- All4You! (Preventing HIV, Other STD and Pregnancy Among Young People in Alternative Education Settings), developed and published by ETR
- Draw the Line/Respect the Line, a school-based program for sixth through eighth graders designed to prevent HIV, other STD and pregnancy, also developed and published by ETR
- The Safer Sex Intervention, a clinic-based intervention intended to reduce the incidence of STD and improve condom use among high-risk female adolescents
The project will be headed by ETR Associates' Senior Program Manager Regina Firpo-Triplett. In conjunction with the development of these guidelines, Ms. Firpo-Triplett will be conducting presentations to OAH grantees throughout the United States on making successful adaptations.
