Dr. Doug Kirby’s UNESCO Report on Sexuality Education Now Featured in Six Languages

The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recently announced that International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education, coauthored by Dr. Doug Kirby of ETR Associates, is now available in six languages: English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish and Portuguese. A Russian version will be available in the near future.

International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education: An Evidence-Informed Approach for Schools, Teachers and Health Educators sold out its first printing of 5,000 copies in English. The report was co-authored by leading experts in the field of sexuality education, including Dr. Kirby, and was subjected to extensive review and comment by a global panel of experts and practitioners from civil society organizations, ministries of education and international agencies. The report, developed by UNESCO in partnership with UNAIDS, UNFPA, UNICEF and WHO, seeks to assist education, health and other relevant authorities in developing and implementing school-based sexuality education materials and programs. About Dr. Doug Kirby
For more than 30 years, Doug Kirby has directed statewide and nationwide studies of adolescent sexual behavior, abstinence programs, sexuality and STD/HIV education programs, school-based clinics, school condom-availability programs and youth development programs. He co-authored research on ETR Associates' Reducing the Risk, Safer Choices, Draw the Line and All4You! All of these curricula significantly reduced unprotected sex by delaying sex, reducing the number of partners, increasing condom use or increasing contraceptive use. Dr. Kirby has been honored by the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists; the American School Health Association; the California Alliance Concerned with Teenage Parenting and Pregnancy Prevention; the Healthy Teen Network; the National Organization for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and Planning; the South Carolina Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy; and the Society for the Scientific Study of Sex.
