About
ETR Associates
For a quarter
century, ETR Associates has been dedicated to promoting effective
programs that address the health needs of diverse communities. During
this time, we have gained national prominence by pioneering the
development, evaluation, and dissemination of evidence-based programs
designed to reduce risk-taking among teens and prevent HIV, STDs
and unintended pregnancy.
The value of
evidence-based curricula rests in the large-scale studies that prove
their effectiveness over time and across various communities. ETR
has created four acclaimed evidence-based prevention curricula focusing
on teen HIV, STD and pregnancy prevention, and is currently completing
its fifth which bridges these health concerns with service-learning.
To ensure that our programs are effective, we integrate and build
upon various cultural, gender, environmental, social, and linguistic
characteristics of the populations they are intended to serve.
The driving force behind ETR's trainings is to effectively
bridge theory to practice. ETR is a national leader in the dissemination
of evidence-based programs, and we also provide "best practices"
trainings on many health topics. To date, we have led trainings
in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, reaching
thousands of schools and local providers. In schools alone, we have
trained teachers in over 250 school districts nationwide, who in
turn have reached over three million middle and high school students.
Our cadre of multicultural and bilingual training associates helps
educators and providers tailor and adapt programs to their priority
populations (many of whom reside in low-income neighborhoods): Latino,
African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Native American and immigrant.
All our trainings are culturally-competent and skills-based and
are customized to build the capacity of staff in health departments,
school districts, health providers and community-based organizations.
