NSLC Library Intern - Temporary

ETR Associates, a private, non-profit, health education organization, is seeking a qualified person to join its Clearinghouse Department as a Temporary Library Intern.

Education, Training and Research (ETR) Associates is a national center for publications, training, research and clearinghouse services in family life, and comprehensive health education, substance abuse prevention, HIV/AIDS prevention and tobacco use education and prevention. ETR’s publishing division publishes and distributes curricula, books and pamphlets in these areas for schools, clinics and youth-serving organizations across the country.

Overview

Under the supervision of the National Service-Learning Clearinghouse (NSLC) Project Manager, this position assists the librarian with cataloging, reference services and literature searches.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Catalog, abstract, index, classify, and shelve materials using ERIC classification system.
  • Audit and/or cull the collection as directed.
  • Assist librarian with reference questions as appropriate.

Other Responsibilities

  • Participates in routine meetings of NSLC as appropriate.
  • Develop knowledge of the service-learning field.
  • Other duties as required.

Accountabilities

  • Performs cataloging and reference duties according to established library standards and to satisfaction of the librarian.
  • Responds to inquiries related to resource collection and databases accurately and in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Accepted/Enrolled in an ALA accredited program
  • Strong computer and online searching skills.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with attention to detail.

Preferred:

  • Completion of basic cataloging course or cataloging experience desirable. Interest in service-learning, education, community service, volunteerism, and/or national service.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Salary Range:          $12-15 per hour, DOE. Part Time. 15-19 hours week. Grade level 1. Non- Exempt.
