ETR's Narinder Dhaliwal Receives the Pauline Murillo Industry Leader Award

February 19, 2016 – ETR's California Clean Air Project Director Narinder Dhaliwal has received the sixth annual Pauline Murillo Industry Leader Award from the California Nations Indian Gaming Association (CNIGA). CNIGA Chairman Steve Stallings presented the award at the 2016 Western Indian Gaming Conference at Harrah's Resort Southern California in Valley, CA.

In discussing her work on secondhand smoke education, Chairman Stallings praised Dhaliwal for her respectful and supportive approach to tribal sovereignty. He noted, "Narinder's intelligence combined with her compassion and respect has led her to successfully collaborate with numerous tribes including the Redding Rancheria and the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation. Recently Sycuan announced that they were increasing the size of their smoke-free wing, making them the largest smoke-free venue in San Diego."

The late Pauline Murillo dedicated her life to the protection of tribal sovereignty and to educating the public about her tribe, the San Manuel Band of Serrano Mission Indians. Murillo is fondly remembered for her kindness and passionate dedication to educating the public about her tribal heritage and culture.
